After School Club

Newtongrange ASC Service NASC is a charity service that is run within Newtongrange primary school. We have the space of the dining hall and the offset activity room. We offer the community - breakfast, after school and holiday club service. We currently support over 100 families with our services in the Newtongrange community. We are continuing to introduce new families and children to our service and beginning to quickly grow our service more. We offer term time plans for families with set days each week and can also request ad hoc sessions/dates that you require. We also offer just holiday club users who only require childcare in the holiday periods.

Here is some more information about each of the different services we provide. 

Breakfast club; Our breakfast club runs from 7:30 am until 8:45 am at the cost of £6.15 per session. Children have an offering of cereals, toast, yoghurts and fruit for breakfast. Alongside activities of construction, expressive arts, games, outdoor time and have the freedom of choice to what they do at breakfast club. A lot of our children do not require breakfast but come along to allow parents commute times to work or just because they enjoy coming to see friends and staff.

 After school club; Our after school club runs from 3:10 pm until 5:30 pm being the closing time of the club. This comes at a cost of £13 per session. Friday sessions are 12:20 - 4pm at the cost of £13.75. Children are welcomed from school and have the choice of having a snack. This can vary from a variety of snacks that we rotate weekly on our snack planner. This is something that is actively changed and adapted to allow children’s ideas and voices to be heard. We offer things like breadsticks, crackers, rice cakes, oatcakes and alongside fruit and veg. With children’s current choices of, apples, melon, watermelon, peppers, cucumber and lots of more healthy choices. Activities are set up by staff before children arrive by using our club floor books of children’s voices of ideas of learning and play they would like to do at the club. We have had a variety recently of making our own playdough, visiting the local park, making jewellery, den building and lots more. Offerings of activities are there for children to choose from but also can be changed for something else they would like to do. We have the offering of outdoors at all times at the after school club. Children enjoy football, team games, hula hoop competitions, visiting the local park and general play opportunities.

Holiday club; We have three different sessions for holiday club service. Half day sessions 8 am - 12:30 pm and 1pm - 5:30 pm at the cost of £16. Our full day sessions run 7:30 am - 5:30 pm at the cost of £27. We offer full school time holiday services and are open due to demand for service. This is during the February, April, Summer and October holiday period. This also includes in service days for teaching staff. We only close for public holidays and two weeks at Christmas and New year. Holiday club programmes are posted in advance; these are created with children’s ideas of what they would like to do during their time in the service. This has varied with ideas of baking, woodland adventures, tattoos, face painting, club talent shows, gymnastics and much more fun!
